Parkersburg South High School is full of creative students who have bright futures ahead of them. Some students have already begun their bright futures.

Senior, Abby Farnsworth, has already written and released two-thirds of her EverGreen Trilogy. The first book is titled EverGreen and her second book is titled Moonlit Skies. The first book in the trilogy follows high school senior, Lily Rhodes, when her life is turned around after meeting a mysterious Rowan Marx. Abby’s first book was published in March of 2021, and her second one was published not long after in July of the same year.

Abby went through a process that is very common in the publishing and writing worlds. After completing her first novel in an impressive three months, Abby had to begin the process of finding a publisher and publishing company that was interested in her work. Over fifty query letters later, Abby received word from World Castle Publishing that they wanted to work with her. A very exciting and surreal moment for writers who are just starting their journeys. World Castle Publishing seems to be a very flexible and understanding company — definitely a very positive experience for a young author.

“I couldn’t be happier with my publisher. It’s a traditional format, but I also get to be really involved in the cover design and editing process.” Abby shared. The two novels Abby published last year were the first two in the EverGreen Trilogy. The next book is titled Fallen Snow. Abby stated that, “Fallen Snow has not been released but will hopefully be out in the spring.” Abby also has a second trilogy in the works that is entitled The Shades of Us Trilogy. Two of the three novels in that trilogy have already been completed and are under contract with World Castle Publishing; however the third novel in that trilogy has not yet been written.

Considering Abby’s accomplishments at such a young age, it is not hard to believe that she is on track to a successful and life-long writing career. According to the Curtis Brown Creative Blog, the average age for most authors is around thirty-six years old. That average figure is approximately double Abby’s current age, and she has already written five novels, and released two. Which is incredibly impressive. A report from Writer’s Digest Author Surveys and Digital Book World found that of 9,000 writers 13.4% of those with a completed manuscript were able to be published in the traditional way.

Abby is well on her way to leading an exciting life of traveling new worlds and befriending interesting characters while she does — without ever having to leave the familiar comforts of her own home and town.
