With all the fun things to do in high school today, whether it be dances, football games,

clubs, or sometimes even just the little things in class, it has become such a different experience from what it once was years ago. Teachers witness all these events and reminisce on their high school years and their favorite high school memories.

Mrs. Nelson is a history teacher in the two-thousand building at Parkersburg South High School. Her favorite memory of high school is from her senior year when she and her friends

made a float for their homecoming parade. They cut up cardboard into the shape of a car, using yardsticks, duct tape, and dowel rods to form the outer shape of the vehicle. They then used spray paint to coat the outside of the structure and add the final details. Mrs. Nelson recalled that the “garage was filled with the fumes from the spray paint.” She said that the memory was one of her happiest memories from her time in high school and she is glad that the tradition of making floats for the homecoming parade continues today.
