Parkersburg South High School gets new teachers every so often. Mr.
Husk is one of our newest staff to join the community, starting only three
weeks before this school year began.
Becoming a teacher, for some isn’t always a choice people are expecting to
make. For Mr. Husk, he had to get inspiration from a person in his life. He was unsure of a major in college, so his friend's mother suggested he went into the teaching world.
According to her, she saw him as a kind soul, and he always took a liking to social
studies.
Out of all the schools at which he could have taught, he picked Parkersburg
South High School. He thought this was his best fit because the morals in place and the fact that others at South had the same mindset as him. Some of his closest family
also graduated from here.
Being a teacher has it’s rewarding experiences, teachers have many distinct
reasons they enjoy their occupations and Mr. Husk is no different. Mr. Husk personally thinks the most fulfilling part of teaching is seeings people grow, change and mature as a person as well as student.
When you’re a teacher, it will be stressful, as much as any other job. As a
teacher, dealing with negative interactions are guaranteed, that’s why for Mr. Husk
it’s also very important that students make sure they can cope with negative interactions,
even when stressful.
If Mr. Husk was to talk to someone who wanted to be a teacher, he says “You
have to take part of it into your personal life in healthy amounts. You
have to be creative, and have good people skills, and learn to stay calm.”
Becoming a new teacher at a school can be somewhat scary, but it’s
important to know it does have a its positives. It is rewarding, not
only for the teachers, but for everyone involved.
