What are the Epstein Files? 

The ‘Epstein Files’, as referred to by many, are a compilation of legal documents, witness testimonies, personal emails ranging from incriminating conversations to the everyday message, and investigative reports connected to Jeffery Epstein, his associates and his exclusive island. These files shed light on the horrific things happening right under our noses, the things the powerful people of the world are capable of, and how the world as we have known it is simply a lie. As the files have started to be serialized and released in chunks at the demand of the people, the biggest question is: Can society handle the honest truth?  

The Discovery 

Files began compiling after the arrest of wealthy and powerful financier Jeffery Epstein. Epstein was brought up on federal charges relating to sex trafficking and abuse, including minors in 2019. Although the charges came in 2019, Epstein has raised concern for decades. In 2005, Palm Beach Police in Florida opened a criminal investigation looking into Epstein after a 14-year-old girl's parents accused he paid her for a massage. The police went on to gather even more allegations and evidence of sexual abuse from other minors; the encounters often being massages. Federal prosecutors later stated the abuse began as early as 2002. Epstein was then officially charged on one felony charge of solicitation of prostitution by a grand jury. The lead detective then referred the case to nearby FBI due to the charge not fully bringing justice to the total of Epstein crimes, with more going uncharged but assumed. This kickstarted years of criminal charges and investigations being brought up on Epstein, placing him under examination. This rise of awareness and caution of Epstein motivated many victims to bring his crimes to light; Epstein eventually having to settle in many civil lawsuits filed against him. 

Ghislaine Maxwell  

Ghislaine Noelle Marion Maxwell is a British socialite intricately linked to Jeffery Epstein, often being assumed as his wife. She played a significant role in helping Epstein recruit and groom underage girls. Maxwell managed victims and kept his network empire steady. She was arrested and charged for her part in these crimes, making her a key figure in the extensive wrongdoing of the elite. 

Other Guilty or Accused Notable Figures 

While it is hard to find these names while researching this topic, possibly on purpose, here’s a list of a few probable figures named within the files. Prominent figures such as President Donald Trump, former first lady Hillary Clinton, former president Bill Clinton, William “Bill” Barr, Donald Barr, Mike Pompeo, Martin Nowak, Elon Musk, Stephen Hawking, Prince Andrew, former president Joe Biden, and many more. Readers, it is important to do your own research when looking into topics and scandals of this caliber as information can be altered or vary in modern day times. When researching, it is also critical to look into the context of why a person's name is possibly being mentioned within the files.  

The Redacted 

Within the Epstein Files are many blacked out or unreleased pieces of information. They do so by dramatically placing large black boxes over the text. This is said to happen due to respect and to protect the victims of the abuse, owing them privacy. They also have certain A-list and elite names blacked out in certain situations or incriminating scenarios. The reasoning, or some say excuse, is to preserve an ongoing investigation. 

Possible Questions 

After discussing the files with members of the student body, some interesting questions have been asked about the case. These questions ranged from simple topics such as “Who was mentioned?” all the way to “Is Epstein really still alive?”. As of now, Epstein is claimed to be deceased with no verified evidence proving otherwise. The speculation on this comes from the inconsistencies on his death and the handling of his body, as well as very suspicious documents stemming from a guard that was on duty at the time of Epstein’s death. Others had curiosity as to why President Donald Trump has yet to face justice for his alleged involvement in the crimes detailed within the documents, as Trumps name is mentioned in the unredacted version of the files estimated at over a million times! The Department of Justice (DOJ) has publicly noted that released files “may include fake or falsely submitted images, documents or videos, as everything that was sent to the FBI by the public was included...”, which is quite suspicious as it is assumed they’d remove the “fake” pieces from the legal documents before releasing them to the public to increase their “intended” goal of transparency with the public.  

Taking an expansive look at the chaos in the world right now, some see this as intended to draw attention away from the involvement of Trump and the other named notable figures, which has seemingly worked so far. The public is left unsure as to if, or when, justice will be served for all involved and continues to stay educated and hopeful awaiting that time.   

The student body, as well as some of the common population, are both curious, as well as concerned about what the “rich”, “elite”, and “leaders” of the world are doing behind the scenes, and how horrific these alleged crimes truly are. This curiosity leads to much concern regarding what is going on in the world and the credibility of information being fed to us from the government and other sources that are to be considered “reliable”.  

The Most Pressing Question

Can the common public handle the pure, untainted truth?

This hypothetical mass reveal of all redacted materials, making the files complete, would likely trigger a massive, intricate and chaotic series of events ranging from legal, political, and social upheaval, these aspects of society completely uprooting  everyday lives, thus spreading to the international level as it already seems to be. Something like this could potentially tear apart not only nations, but the world's institutional trust by revealing systems founded on years of corruption and lies.  

It is critical for the common population of the world to stay informed and educated on what’s being passed down as reliable information- preparing for the worst, while still hoping for the best. This hypothetical we just covered poses extreme and imminent danger. While citizens have been asking great questions and demanding truth, it is also important to ask-could the public responsibly handle the absolute truth, and are the outcomes and potential fallout genuinely worth it? It could be a blessing and a curse to learn the answers to these questions.
