Parkersburg South High School Girls soccer team has made a few amazing round the last four years with the help of star forward, Samara Nunn. Nunn’s freshman, sophomore, and senior year, the team made it to regionals, but her junior year they made it all the way to states! They played Wheeling Park in the state finals, but unfortunately lost 1-0. Wheeling Park was considered one of the big competitions for the girls team. Nunn was a presence on the
field wherever she played. She showed a tremendous amount speed and a crazy amount of athleticism. She loved to push her teammates everyday to get better, at practices and even games.
She always wanted the best out of everyone and she was very positive. She loved playing against cross town rivals, Parkersburg High. She stated, “I love the atmosphere of the team when we play PHS, in the locker room, warmups, and in the game, everyone was hype.” Nunn finished her senior year career at Parkersburg finishing with a total of 41 goals. That is amazing!!
In addition to being the AAA Player of the Year, Samara was also named the All State First Team, and the Region 4 All Region First Team! She was recognized for many reasons, but her accomplishments were too much to count. She has recently announced that she will be going to a Division I college in Mississippi called, Alcorn State, to finish her academic and soccer
career. At her signing, she was this years recipient of the Gerald Stoltz Jr Sportsmanship of the Year Award! After college, she wants to minor in psychology and social work! Even though she’s going to be 9 hours away, she’s going to do her best to communicate with people back here in West Virginia.
