The PSHS girls soccer team has a perfect record, with no team being able to score against them. They are ranked number 1 in the state, and ranked 13th in the nation.
“My first season has gone well so far, the team is very welcoming and we are all like a
giant group of best friends. We are playing great together as a team.” said Hadley Freshour. When asked why she likes the sport, the freshman responded that she's "been playing this sport since I was little and all the girls and the coaches are great and they push me to work harder.”
The girls have defeated John Marshall,Oak Glen,Dover,WCCHS, Wheeling Park,Woodrow Wilson, Ripley, and Weir, University, and Steubenville big reds. They also won the OVAC championship. Their next game is Tuesday 10/6 against Cabell Midland. The girls are looking forward to more victorious games, and keeping up the wining streak. Their big regular season games consist of playing Morgantown, Oak Glen, Wheeling Park and, Charleston Catholic. They have defeated 2 out of 4 of those teams.
The team, consisting of 26 girls, have been working hard this year to maintain the winning streak. Sophomore, Ava Barton said “ My advice to upcoming athletes is to manage your time,
work hard, ask questions, and take all the advice you can get!” I then asked her how she maintains her grades while also playing soccer and she said ”I balance my grades and soccer by getting school done in my free time, riding to and from games, in the car to practice, and any time I have at home.”
Sophomore, Ava Barton said “The best part about competing is working hard in practice and then executing in games.” Freshour mentioned “The best part about competing is working together with my teammates and going onto the field to see all our hard work pay off.”
She went on to say “Never underestimate yourself, everyone is a good player and is
always an asset to the team. Just work hard and always give 100% effort." It is obvious that the Lady Patriots are doing just that.
