Paradise Lost or Paradise Regained?

Brayden Byers, Staff Writer It’s been a questionable start to the year for Venezuela. The U.S. launched an attack on Caracas, capturing the nations President Nicolás Maduro, leaving Venezuela in disarray over the uncertainty of it political and economic future. The operation was the climax of an extensive military pressure campaign by the Trump Administration, framed as an effort to stymie drug trafficking and so called “narco-terrorism.” The U.S. has asserted control over

The Spring Celebration is an event put on by PSHS Student Council.  The community is invited to the front campus of Parkersburg South High School.

There is something for everyone at this event.  Perhaps the most anticipated activity at the celebration is the expansive egg hunt. In years past, the hunt has been sectioned off into various age groups.

There are prize baskets to be given away sponsored by other PSHS groups like Sophomore Cabinet, National Honor Society, and ____ to name a few. Bikes for different age groups are also up for grabs as a prize that this event.

The fun doesn’t stop with the above-mentioned activities, there will also be art projects, chalk, plastic egg decorating and many more.

In addition to the hosts of the event, there will be other groups from Parkersburg South High School present including choir, band, NHS, and ROTC. These groups will be performing and carrying out various other duties.

Members of student council were asked about how many people they thought would be at the celebration and they had an estimated guess of 250 attendees or more.

Student council is mostly exited to see all the students, families, and our community come together, to see all the kids egg hunt and have fun.  A big thank you to Mrs. Moss, event sponsors and participants, and PSHS Student Council for making this event possible.

Graduation Season

Brayden Byers, Staff Writer

Graduation as a senior is a weird feeling. It’s something we’ve all been working toward, but it also means we’re not coming back.

For some people that’s exciting, but for others it’s a little sad, too. When we leave, we won’t see the same people every day like we’re used to, and the reality is that we might not see some of our classmates again, which makes this time a little more meaningful.

SPOT Day is scheduled for May 26th, 2026, and is our last structured day together as a class, so it’s important. While it isn’t a mandatory event, it’s one last chance to hang out and make a memory before we all go our separate ways. As a class, we should all do our part to get through the rest of the year and graduate. We’ve made it this far, and it would be disappointing if someone didn’t make it. Let’s just stay focused and finish it out.

The Senior Awards Ceremony is scheduled for May 27th, 2026, at 9a.m. in the ROAC.

Parkersburg South ‘s graduation ceremony is scheduled for May 29, 2026, at 7p.m., either in the ROAC or at EASF; location is dependent on weather.
